How To Get Hired In Pro Sports Newsletter

They said "two weeks." It's been three.

You've finished the interview. The vibes were high. The decision maker told you they had no set timeline, but you'd hear something in roughly a few weeks.

Now it's seventeen days later. Your inbox is a desert. You're staring at a draft email that says: "Hi, just wanted to check in on the status of the role."

Delete that draft. It's the fastest way to prove you're just another one of the 1500+ applicants getting ignored.

The Uncertainty Loop

When a sports organization goes silent, it's rarely because they're too busy to hit send. It's because they're uncertain. Whether you're chasing a role in player development, scouting, sales, or marketing, they've seen your resume, but they haven't seen you translate your expertise into a winning strategy.

The people that hire for the roles you seek are looking for The Bridge. They need the person who can merge specific expertise with the actual needs of the organization and communicate insights in under 60 seconds. If they haven't called you back, it means you haven't yet proven you're that person.

The Strategy Pivot

To break the silence, you've got to show them that you're still thinking about their problems.

Think about the logic we broke down on Tuesday regarding player approach. Most people in the 1500+ person pile are sending over-polished reports on the mechanics of their job. If you're in marketing, that's just basic fan engagement numbers. If you're in scouting, it's just raw tool grades.

But the 1 percent focus on Strategy. We looked at how Jasson Dominguez has elite mechanics, but his actual hurdle is his approach. He's got a 44 percent first pitch swing rate while the league average is only 30 percent.

If you just tell a decision maker he's talented, you're invisible. If you tell them how that aggression gap impacts the win column, you're The Bridge.

Don't check in. Send a blueprint. Send a one page breakdown of a specific challenge the organization is facing. Show them you understand the gap between the theory of the job and the actual implementation. That's how you move from a risk to a trusted asset.

STOP WAITING BY THE PHONE

FREE: The Pro Strategy Blueprint If you're sitting by the phone waiting for permission, you've already lost. This is the exact template I use to build one page strategy briefs that make decision makers stop scrolling and call you back. It works for every role from scouting and player dev to sales and marketing.

THE CHALLENGE: Use this blueprint to map out one solution for the organization you want to work for. Reply to this email ([email protected]) with your work. If you show me your plan, I'll send you the Bonus follow up script that I used to help members move from Ghosted to Hired.
